Natives
Plants, people, and places. All big things come from small beginnings. Before contact with the colonizers of the western world, the Pacific Rim natives were set apart by their unique language, beliefs and cultural practices. Many were decimated on first contact due to exposure to disease and religious expansion. Historical artifacts and "iwi" (bones) were removed and placed in western museums. Invasive plants and ungulates were introduced causing the extinction of local indigenous plants and animals.
With the First Nation's efforts, a revival is underway...
